Dr. Jon Thorn is co-founder of the India Capital Fund. The fund has invested in India since 1994, over 20 years, making it one of the longest-standing foreign investors in the country.

The fund adopts a long term, research-driven investment style with a portfolio which does not mirror the Sensex index. It has developed its own proprietary database of Indian company financials.
The Fund has a 20-year track record of significant index and peer group out-performance; over this period, the fund has achieved an alpha of 260 bps CAGR against the $Market.
In 2014, Bloomberg ranked it the top performing midsize hedge fund, and in recent years, the fund was voted ‘Best Absolute Return Fund’ by Hedgeweek and nominated 5 times in 8 years for AsiaHedge’s ‘Best Single Country’ Award, and wining it once, and Eurekahedge’s ‘Best India Fund’ Award’.
Previously Thorn worked at Drexel Burnham Lambert in London and was a business journalist before establishing the Fund. He holds a MSc and PhD from the London School of Economics, where he was a graduate scholar.
